THE young woman who claims a sports star sexually assaulted her was talking to him before the alleged sexual assault, he revealed.
Gardai, from Crumlin in Dublin, got CCTV of the celebrity and the woman, who is in her 20s, interacting on a Friday night outing.
The top athlete was previously linked with suspected rape.
Other recovered CCTV footage shows the couple walking to the car where the incident allegedly took place around 9 p.m.
But as Garda’s investigation into the allegation continues, the Irish Sun may reveal that it could be two weeks before the star is questioned by officers.
Detectives are also trying to track down punters who were in the area before the alleged attack.
Once Gardai takes the witness statements and interviews everyone, the allegations will be passed on to the first person.
A source said: “CCTV evidence will play a key role in this investigation and Gardai is trying to build a picture leading to the alleged attack.
“Once all witness statements and exhibits have been gathered, the suspect will be questioned. “
Gardai will then send a case to the Director of Public Prosecutions to decide whether the sports icon will face charges.
The young woman contacted cops in Crumlin on Saturday to allege that she was sexually assaulted the night before.
Following the alleged assault, she was taken to Rotunda Hospital in Dublin for a medical examination.
The Irish Sun previously revealed how the well-known alleged assailant was arrested by Gardai while being driven in a car hours after the woman surrendered to the cops.
SEIZED CAR AND CLOTHING
The vehicle was then seized by officers and was still undergoing a forensic examination last night.
Officers are trying to determine if the driving force is the same as the one where the sexual assault allegedly took place.
Clothing belonging to the athlete was also seized and is being examined by the guard.
Police confirmed that an investigation was underway. They said: ‘Gardai in Crumlin is investigating an alleged sexual assault of a woman which occurred last Friday around 9pm on Drimnagh Road, Dublin 12.
“Investigations are ongoing and no arrests have been made yet.
“Due to the nature of the investigation, we will not comment further at this time.”
The sports star had previously been accused of raping a woman in south Dublin and questioned by cops.
A file on the case was then sent to the DPP, but no decision was made on whether to indict the celebrity.
