Where to find Irish culinary specialties

After two years of canceled or muted St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, these Connecticut restaurants and bars are ready to celebrate again. This is where you’ll find corned beef, Guinness, whisky, Irish cream, live music and parties this month.

Tigin Irish pub and restaurant at Stamford has a full program of events between March 5 and 19, including brunch, live music and a special Irish menu for the Stamford Parade on March 5; a Guinness glass etching on March 9, a St. Patrick’s pub quiz on March 15, a Jameson tasting on March 16, and an all-day party on March 17 starting at 10 a.m. with brunch, live music, and a special menu.

The tasty yolkwith storefronts and food trucks in Stratford, Bridgeport, Southport and Fairfield, features “The Corny Yolk” as its specialty of the month, featuring homemade corned beef, two eggs, Swiss cheese and sauerkraut topped with its “sauce million islands” and served on marbled rye.

The bear smokehousewith locations in Hartford, New Haven, South Windsor and Windsor, offers corned beef specialties through St. Patrick’s Day, including a corned beef sandwich and Reuben egg rolls.

AT The Castle on Post at Fairfield, a St. Patrick’s Day menu includes corned beef and cabbage dinner, corned beef Reuben, shepherd’s pie, sausage and mash, chicken pot pie, and fish and chips.

AT BRYAC Black Rock in Bridgeport, March specials include “Irish clams” cooked with corned beef, carrots and potatoes; a corned beef Reuben, corned beef on rye, a beer-battered cod sandwich, and corned beef and cabbage and fish and chips entrees.

by Donovan in South Norwalk is offering a Celtic menu from March 11, featuring Irish nachos (topped with corned beef), a burger topped with cheddar cheese and Irish bacon, a corned beef brisket sandwich and sliders, fish- Dublin fries, bangers and mash, shepherd’s pie and a classic corned beef and cabbage dinner.

O’Neill Irish Pub and Restaurant in South Norwalk kicks off its St. Patrick’s Day celebrations from March 6-17 with live music, an afterparty after the Norwalk Parade, Irish dancers, pipers and other festivities. On March 17, the day begins with a Guinness and buffet breakfast at 7:00 am, followed by entertainment throughout the day.

Wood-n-Tap, with nine locations in Connecticut, is offering a special St. corned beef and swiss cheese, beer n’ chips battered fish, Irish chocolate cake with whiskey caramel sauce and a classic Reuben sandwich on marbled rye bread. Wood-n-Tap also serves its homemade Irish cream on ice.

Colony Grill, with locations in Fairfield, Milford, Norwalk and Stamford, offers a special corned beef pizza until St. Patrick’s Day.

NoRA Cupcake Company in Middletown offers St. Patrick’s Day themed cupcakes like Irish Coffee, Pot O’Gold and Lucky Charms. Pre-orders are open now for pickup March 16-19.

Foxwood Resort Casino Restaurants offer St. Patrick’s Day specials, with a classic corned beef dinner at Cedars Steaks & Oysters and Irish specialties for breakfast and dinner at Veranda Cafe, including Bailey’s French Toast Casserole with a drizzle of Irish cream whiskey or a boiled New England dinner with corned beef. At DraftKings Sportsbook, enjoy loaded Reuben fries, with corned beef, sauerkraut, melted Swiss cheese and Thousand Island drizzle.
