Nominated BAFTA Rising Star Buckley (29), who previously starred in Beast and TV mini-series The woman in white, plays a singer from Glasgow who dreams of becoming a Nashville star in the new movie.
According to the commercial for the new film, Rose-Lynn is “fresh out of prison and with two young children all she wants is to get out of Glasgow and be successful as a country singer in Nashville. Her mother Marion (Julie Walters) had a lot of nonsense from Rose-Lynn in Nashville.
Forced to take responsibility, Rose-Lynn gets a job as a housekeeper, only to find an unlikely champion in the middle-class housewife (Sophie Okonedo). Directed by Tom Harper, Wild rose is an uplifting story with a soundtrack about family, dreams and reality, and three chords and the truth. “
Buckley had her first hit when she came in second on the BBC’s talent show-themed television series I would do anything, and went on to play Anne Egermann in Stephen Sondheim’s West End cover A little night music.
She has also appeared in three BBC television series, as Marya Bolkonskaya in the BBC adaptation of Leo Tolstoy. War and peace, like Lorna Bow in Taboo and like Honor Martin in The last message.
She was also chosen a new biopic of Judy Garland alongside RenÃ©e Zellweger.
Directed by Tom Harper (Peaky Blinders and War and peace), Wild rose is in theaters on April 12.
