A look at Tyler Parker and it’s obvious California’s 2025 defensive tackle has gone viral.
Well, a look and a piece of information.
Parker is only 14 years old!!!
The 6-foot, 300-pounder isn’t just attracting attention on social media. The star of Santa Margarita Catholic High School is also attracting the attention of college recruiters.
Parker added an offer from Notre Dame last month to go along with offers he already had from Cal, Arizona, Miami and a few other schools.
Other schools of serious interest to Parker include Michigan, Oklahoma, USC, Texas A&M, LSU, and Michigan State, among others.
He learned of the offer during a conversation between his head coach, Anthony Rouzier, PPI Recruits founder Brandon Collier and Ireland defensive line coach Al Washington.
“Coach Washington proposed to me over the phone with Coach Anthony Rozier and Brandon Collier,” Parker explained.
Collier typically works to help European prospects get college attention, but has linked up with Parker through Rouzier.
“My head coach and Brandon Collier, they’re best friends,” Parker explained. “They were roommates at UMass so I just hooked up with (Collier). He came to visit Hero (Kanu) one day and he saw my training. He really liked me and I was 13 at the time, so we just started connecting from there.
The Irish offer definitely caught Parker’s attention.
“It didn’t seem real,” he admitted. “It’s a big deal that not many people can get based on academics alone. It gave me props to know that I was doing well in school so that the coach would look at my transcript and go ahead and nominate me for the University of Notre Dame. It didn’t seem real, but it was really, really a blessing. I am grateful that this happened.
Washington also made an extremely strong impression.
“Man, I love Coach Washington,” Parker said. “During the time we spoke, Coach Washington gave me some really good knowledge that I really appreciated. He seems like a great defensive line coach and I’m really excited to get there. I’m really excited to move the relationship forward Notre Dame is for sure one of my best schools.
Parker plans to get to South Bend as soon as he can.
“I will definitely be up there very soon at Notre Dame,” he said. “1000% for a big game. I would 1000% want to go to a game.
“Academics mean a lot to me and my family. Football is really important and I know that I do very well in football, but academics mean a lot to me.
“I’m really excited to go ahead and watch their business school because that’s what I want to do and see how the hospitality is, how the coaches are, just get a feel for Coach Washington and Coach Freeman to see if it’s somewhere I want to play in 2025.”
