QB Dante Moore: calm and cool

Dante Mooredid not change.

The five-star composite quarterback from Martin Luther King (Mich.) has 40 offers from the nation’s top programs, but Moore is still as humble as when he got his first offer from Michigan in seventh grade.

“He’s calm,” Moore’s father, Otha, said. “He’s not flashy. Dante lets the performance speak for itself. He’s quiet, but cool.”

Joe Fresh. Joe Montana. Joe Terrier. Calm, cool and collected.

Dante Moore fits into this group if you talk to those who have played with him.

“Dante has this gentle walk to him,” Grayson (Ga.)’s leading receiver said in 2024 Joseph Stone Jr.‍, who went 7-for-7 with Moore. “That’s what a quarterback needs – like Joe Burrow. When you walk differently, your team will always follow differently.

“He has this walk where you always know. You like that.”

And yes, Moore has always been a leader on the field since little league.

“He would run around and buckle chin straps and tie shoe strings,” laughed Mr Moore. “He was telling the kids what to do. He was always a general there.”

Faith is another important part of the 6-foot-2, 195-pound daily life.

Moore has a picture of the cross on her Twitter photo and hasn’t been afraid to speak up or show her faith in social settings.

“He put God first and stayed in his corner,” Moore said. “Dante has always followed this lead. He doesn’t hesitate. He prays before every meal and every game. He treats people the way he would like to be treated.”

The solid foundations that Moore built and surrounded himself with did not let him fall into the pitfalls of high-level recruiting.

It would be easy to get carried away by the hype, but that’s not Moore. In fact, it’s quite the opposite as Moore continues to be on her own while simply enjoying life.

“He must have grown up fast,” Mr Moore said. “He matured early, so he had been washing his clothes and doing his own laundry since third grade.

“It helped him with what happened. My daughter goes to college and she sees how some kids can’t even wash their own clothes. He’s just very mature for his age.”

This maturity has also led to a drive to be the best at everything he does. Moore is not only one of the best quarterbacks in the country, but he finished his fall semester with a 4.0 GPA.

Moore’s drive to be elite in all aspects of life begins with two superstars as he took pieces of each from afar.

“He just wants to get better,” Mr Moore said. “He realizes there’s always work to be done. Tom Brady and LeBron James are two of his favorite athletes and that’s all they talk about. They focus on improving and even when it’s well, there’s more work to do.

“Lebron James – Everyone wants to say negative things about him, but there have been no negatives off the pitch. He always stayed strong and was a family man – nobody talks about that.”

And just like James, Moore has made an effort to give back to his community and doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

“He’s humble,” Mr. Moore said. “He always tries to help others. Dante always tries to find ways to give back. He does community service and works with the little kids in the park after his practices because they look up to him.

“He serves the elderly in the city and the neighborhood. He loves helping people.”
