Notre Dame HC Marcus Freeman continues to recruit non-stop

Notre Dame head football coach Marcus Freeman emphasized the importance of recruiting from day one of his hire.

The freshman head coach once again underscored Notre Dame’s focus on recruiting in the moments after the Blue-Gold game on April 23.

“The recruiting never stops,” Freeman said of the program’s aftermath. “Recruit, recruit, recruit. Every day. Recruitment. It is a daily responsibility and the attention of all our staff.

Five days after the Spring Game, Freeman flew to Las Vegas to support safety Kyle Hamilton in the NFL Draft.

Before the draft began, Freeman made an appearance at College GameDay where he said the NFL Draft was every rookie’s dream and Hamilton was the latest student-athlete to pick the Irish for football and a degree.

The Notre Dame head coach could have left it at that as his message was heard by thousands on ESPN, but it’s not Marcus Freeman.

Freeman was recruiting in the green room with safety coach Chris O’Leary.

Yes, in limited time, Freeman managed to have a few FaceTime chats with Notre Dame rookies between watching his former players get drafted (Sauce Gardner and Hamilton).

A conversation took place with the quarterback of Martin Luther King (Mich.) in 2023 Dante Moore‍, who was in Oregon for an official visit this weekend. Moore has been Notre Dame’s top quarterback target for months and this is just another example of Freeman and his staff taking advantage of every recruiting opportunity.

Freeman also managed to have FaceTime chats with the 2023 commits Keon Keeleyand Peyton Bowen‍ with the 2023 objectives Carnell Tateand Samuel M’Pemba‍.

It may seem small, but Freeman lives up to the bar he set for himself during his introductory press conference in December.

“I better be the number one scout,” Freeman said in December. “I better be the main recruiter for every child we recruit. I plan to do that. We obviously have to depend on our staff and I will depend on our staff to make sure we know who and what and why we recruit every individual, but if I’m not the primary recruiter, then we’re cheating them.”
