New Irish sports bar Maddy McMurphy’s Irish Sports Bar in downtown San Antonio

It’s still a downtown San Antonio sports bar, but it added an Irish touch. The former space of The Ticket is now called Maddy McMurphy’s Irish Sports Bar on Houston Street.

The restaurant and bar took on a new identity about a week ago, and the new bar is run by the mantra that “every day is St. Patrick’s Day”. Lone Star draft beer is colored green in honor of the Emerald Isle, and there is a selection of Irish and Scottish whiskeys behind the bar.

There are a few key changes with the name change: extended hours and a new commitment to the food program. Maddy McMurphy’s now opens daily at 11 a.m., with a menu of offerings like five flavors of chicken wings, mile-high stacked Alamodome Nachos, super pretzels, pizza, and three sub. different sandwiches.

Maddy McMurphy’s is part of the same group that operates MadDogs British Pub, BierGarten and On the Bend on the River Walk, all within walking distance of the property. It offers all the top sports TV packages including NFL Sunday Ticket, NHL Center Ice, MLB Extra Innings, and NBA League Pass, as well as pay-per-view boxing and UFC fighting for free.

Maddy McMurphy’s Irish Sports Bar, 420 E. Houston St., 210-222-9722. Hours: 11 am to 2 am every day. In line:
