Movie Don’t Lie | Boubacar Traore

Notre Dame has played with a four-man front in their base defense since 2014. Along the way, they’ve had some really good players playing 3-man defensive tackle, including Sheldon Day, Jerry Tillery, and Jayson Ademilola.

The future also looks very bright for this position. They have Brenan Vernon‍ in the 2023 class and just added defensive tackle 2024 Brandon Davis Swain‍. I guess they will have another one with 2023 4 stars Boubacar Traore‍ join in the fun.

A former Boston College draftee, Traore is the brother of current former NFL offensive lineman Badara Traore. Boubacar is only scratching the surface of his potential.

Height: 6’4″

Lester: 250

Projected position: Defensive tackle or defensive end 4i

DSI class: 91 (4 stars)

National average score: 91.6 (4 stars)

What it does best:

It is long and plays long. He appears at the point of attack and with that long arm that helps him get to the quarterback.

Traore has huge pass rush potential. A lot of players his size don’t have the flexibility to turn the corner, but here you can see him wrap and finish once he beats the offensive tackle.

It can convert speed into power. It has a good contraction and displays a powerful rush.

What it needs to improve:

He can stop his feet at times, peaking for the ball while playing the run. He needs to disengage from blocks faster.

He plays as a edge defender, but plans to play inside in college. It’s going to be a bit of an adjustment for him because you don’t see him having to face double teams and play with the constant leverage needed to be successful there, especially as a run defender.

He is raw in terms of initial moves and counters as a passing thrower. He doesn’t need to have a big toolbox in the face of the competition he faces. This will have to be strongly developed over the next few years.

What is its ceiling?

Traore has the physical and athletic traits to become a disruptive inside pass thrower for the Irish. Length, flexibility and drive are all assets and he has the potential to be exceptional once he adds more movement to his game.

Notre Dame is getting to the point now where they’re loading into the position so snaps are going to be hard to come by for the next few years but he has NFL potential and I would imagine the listed weight is a lot lighter than he looks weighs at the moment. He should be physically ready to compete early in his college career.

Who could it be:
