Shane Lowry may have walked away with the top prize, but that hasn’t stopped Irish sports stars from adopting the red carpet style.
The annual Sports Personality of the Year awards were held in Dublin, with athletes from all sporting backgrounds in attendance to see the man Offaly crowned with the top prize.
The Dublin footballers, who won Team of the Year, and their triumphant five-time manager, who won the Manager of the Year title, came in costume and kicked.
Former Irish running champion Sonia O’Sullivan was there in a fancy dress and was added to the Hall of Fame, while Des Cahill may have misread the dress code, opting for a Santa costume on the Red carpet.
Lowry was joined by his wife Wendy, as well as members of the Irish hockey team who booked their places in Tokyo for the 2020 Olympics.
Walker Brendan Boyce, world para-swimming bronze medalist Nicole Turner and members of the Dublin women’s football team, who clinched their third rebound title, were also present at the event.
