Home Alone fans have been bitterly disappointed with the new trailer for Disney’s controversial reboot, Home Sweet Home Alone – with Kildare native Aisling Bea set to play a key role.

The iconic Christmas movie is a favorite of millions, with Macauley Culkin’s portrayal of Kevin McAllister causing a one-minute laugh in the 1990 film.

The franchise has since spawned four sequels, including the Lost in New York sequel and two direct-to-TV options, the most recent of which was in 2012 with Home Alone ‘: The Holiday Heist.

Nine years later, we get a reboot of the original, with Aisling Bea stepping in as the distressed mother of 10-year-old Max Mercer.

Chaos ensues when the parents fly to Japan, not realizing that Max is missing.

However, this time around, the reboot’s criminals are more reluctant than Home Alone’s thief duo, the Wet Bandits, played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern, who terrorized Macaulay’s character while trying to ransack his family home.
