Irish food software company Nutritics buys UK-based Ten Kites

Irish diet and health software company Nutritics has purchased Ten Kites, a UK-based menu publishing platform.

Ten Kites software enables food businesses to publish personalized digital menus to web pages, mobile apps and digital displays.

The acquisition will allow Nutritics to include the Ten Kites solution in its overall offering to its customers.

It also allows Ten Kites to expand internationally with access to new market segments in Europe, the Middle East and Australia.

Stephen Nolan, Managing Director of Nutritics, said: “This acquisition strengthens the Nutritics offering by allowing us to combine our food and health software solutions with the Ten Kites platform used by restaurants, pub groups and the bars, ensuring that the menu information provided to customers is accurate and detailed to enable them to make the choices they want.

Mr. Nolan added that there is “huge growth” in demand for food companies to provide point-of-sale information.

“Combined with this, the Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated the pace at which the food and hospitality industry has embraced digital platforms to operate securely by providing staff and consumers with easy access to information. on menus and ordering platforms, ”he said.

The combined entity currently employs 50 people and there are plans to continue recruiting to support the expansion, according to a statement from Nutritics.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

Nutritics was founded in 2013 by brothers Damian and Ciarán O’Kelly after they discovered a gap in the market for a comprehensive and accessible database of food information for use by food companies, nutrition experts and in research.

Its software solutions are now used in more than 100 countries by a wide range of food companies, alongside healthcare, sports and education professionals.

Nutritics Food customers include the Leon restaurant chain and Starbucks.

Nutritics Health is used by the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), Public Health England and Manchester City Football Club, alongside over 90% of all postgraduate universities in Ireland and the UK.

Nutritics was advised on the acquisition by Focus Capital Partners and Burges Salmon UK. Ten Kites has been advised by DWF UK and Appletree UK.
