When Micah teasing When he arrived at Booker T. Washington High School in Oklahoma, Larry Buckley II wasn’t going to let him go.
“I had to steal him in first year before the defense got to him,” jokes the wide receivers coach.
In reality, Booker T. Washington was loaded with experienced upper class men in the defensive secondary while injuries paved the way to the field on offense much faster.
Still, with many schools chasing the 2023 Oklahoma athlete as a cornerback, Buckley II thinks Tease could be a star on either side of the ball.
“Micah is the type of guy who will step up and get the job done and that’s really what it’s all about,” Buckley II says. “If he’s defensive, he’s going to work to make sure he’s the best defensive back he can be. If he’s on offense, he’s going to work to make sure he’s the best wide receiver he can be.
“Now I’m his receiver coach so I’m a bit biased. I think he’s the best wide receiver in the country, just my opinion and from the work I’ve seen him do and the things I know what he can do with football.
After an unofficial visit to Texas A&M last weekend, Tease is at Notre Dame in an official fashion this weekend.
“He’s very excited about Notre Dame,” Buckley II says. “I know from his first visit there to camp he came back and he was just thrilled. He was enthusiastic about the campus and the students and the overall experience.
“He said everyone around him looked like they were working for business and that’s what business is all about. He was really excited about Notre Dame when he left and I know he is still excited about them.
Tease is heading to USC for an official visit next weekend and is also seriously considering Oklahoma and Alabama.
“Just his hard work,” Buckley II says of what stands out most about the 6-foot, 175-pounder. “He’s a hard working guy.
“His parents raised him with good morals and good beliefs, which carries him. That’s his base, so he takes it wherever he goes. He works hard on the pitch. He’s a good teammate He constantly talks with his teammates, helping the guys.
This greatly facilitates the work of the coaches of Booker T. Washington.
“It really means everything,” says Buckley II. “When you have a guy like that who is the team leader coming in, working hard and doing everything we ask him to do, it makes your job as a coach easier because now the other guys are watching him and he set this example for them.
In the field, speed jumps the most in Buckley II.
“He got into high school and you could see he had a nice frame that could put on a bit of weight, but just his speed and his quickness. He’s got big hands, a very athletic kid. There’s really no not much he can’t do on a football pitch, he’s fearless.
Tease will be busy in June, but he doesn’t seem to be in a rush to make a final decision.
